Another busy weekend

Auntie Karen you are just going to have to apologize to Grandma for me. I have not sent her any pictures in a couple of weeks now. We are just outside as much as we can be.

This last weekend was busy with doing yard work. We also set up a 10'x20' tent to sell some stuff out of. Well that blew away on Sunday so that didn't work out so good. Just after we got everything moved down there. Can you believe it. Anyway I think it is for the best. Now we are just going to have to convert a small portion of the garage into the "market".

Brandi had a great weekend. She is living a child's dream right now. There are neighbor girls next door and they bike back and forth between the houses and make up plays and put on shows. Then there is also a neighbor boy who comes up on the weekends with his Grandpa to the cabin they have just below us. Well he and Brandi have a little thing for each other so they are back and forth all the time. And then she has a little brother that just adores her.

Last night Uncle Jake came over with his mother Kim and they played with the kids. Kaj was terrified of him but just couldn't stop playing with him. Brandi told both her father and I that she didn't want Jake to leave. They were just starting to have fun. Maybe Jake should have been a daycare worker.

I think it is now November with how the weather is. I guess I should be greatful that we had at least a week of summer!

Child Labor

Kaj had a friend over for the weekend. Sienna came over while her parents were running the half marathon. Which they finished and did very well. I put Kaj and Sienna to work vaccuming and they scrubbed the kitchen floor. They did pretty good too.
These picture are backwards. I wasn't thinking when I uploaded. Brandi is showing off our new horse we got when we went to the Land of the Lakes Festival in Virginia this weekend.

This is Kaj and Sienna being towed around by Brandi. Mostly I took this because Sienna is wearing Kaj's clothes. I figured I didn't have to worry about how dirty they got then. Also she is always in girl clothes so I wanted to show her tomboy side, which I don't think she knew she had until she stayed with us.

This is on the way back from the Festival (I told you these were backwards!) Brandi is just resting her eyes (she did that for about and hour and a half). Kaj and Sienna were going aaaahhhhhh over the bumpy road. It was like having a choir in the backseat.

Kaj running his first Mini Excavator all by himself.

Brandi the stowaway in the stroller with Kaj.

Sienna checking out the big kids in the bouncy castle.

Brandi

A break in pee pit on the way up to the range. It also let the kids use up a little energy.

You can't see it very well but Kaj and Sienna fell asleep in the exact same position at the same time.

It doesn't show too well but we were all color cordinated in the same blues and greens. Didn't plan it, it just happened.

Kaj at his first dentist appointment. He didn't do very well. But it was the first time and we didn't really practice.

Happy Monday

It has been a beautiful weekend. Saturday I took Gert (Skinner's Mom) to Duluth for an eye appointment. It had been 4 years so it was probably time. We went to the mall for the eye appointment, then I dragged her to Walmart, Super One and Pamyda. We were both very tired by the end of the day.

Meanwhile back at the Ranch Skinner took the kids up the trail to fuel equipment. He had the excavator in one of the gravel pits up there. The kids were having so much fun in the pit he just decided to sit there for an hour and let them wear themselves out. They finally headed for home. They tried to have a wienie roast in the front yard and got the fire going and then it started to rain. So they finished in the house. The rain quit after lunch and they were back outside on the go. Kaj was so tired he fell asleep and the book he was reading just fell on his face. So no picture was taken.

Sunday was gardening and tree fort building. Brandi's friend Sophie came over in the afternoon and spent the night last night.

This week is Kaj's first dentist appointment. Brandi is going too so hopefully that will work out alright.

Busy Weekend

Dad and Rebecca took the kids out canoeing on Saturday. It was supposed to be a 2 hour adventure. I think they got back about 5 hours later. Nothing went wrong they had such a good time canoeing and picnicing they decided to go around the lake again and picnic again.
Kaj making off with one of the paddles.

Kaj possible trying to cut the rope holding the canoe so he can stay on the rock forever with Grandma, Grandpa and Brandi. Notice Grandpa in the back taking a nap.

Group photo. Kaj passed out. Notice all the clothes they are wearing and they have Kaj all wrapped up for his nap.

Notice here then that they have the kids wading in the lake! I guess they all survived. I bet Grandma and Grandpa slept as well as Brandi and Kaj did that night!

Kaj passed right out. A canoe is a great place to take a nap.

Brandi and her beaver sticks. She collected quite a few and brought them home to decorate the flower beds with. Kaj however keeps moving them around.

Kaj went Friday night with the Grandparents on the 29th. Here he is collecting dinner with Rebecca.

And here he is patiently waiting to eat his dandelion stir-fry!

This and that

Okay so I still have not gotten my act together with the pictures this week. So I will just fill you in.
Skinner finally got in a couple of days of work last week which is good. This weekend we did yard work even though it was freezing cold. Saturday night we had a cook in with our friends Theresa and Kyle and their kids Amery and Grant. It was great. Saturday night we picked up Brandi and now in case you haven't heard we are going to have her for the next 14 months while her mother is in training for the Border Patrol. It is going to be a hard year on Brandi but I think it is going to be great for us as a family. I don't think it has really sunk in yet for her.

Sunday Skinner sold his old pickup, did the dishes, made breakfast for the kids and something else before 9:30 in the morning so he figured he had put in a full day. For those of you who don't know Skinner very well he would never be done working at 9 in the morning. Anyway we went for a drive up to Hovland to look at some wood for sale. And then we stopped at Lisle's Kitchen in Hovland for pizza. It was a great distraction on a rainy cold day.

Sunday night Skinner and Brandi went down to Duluth to spend the night with Karli and go to Brandi's last day of school Monday. It was a field trip to Hayward, WI. Wilderness Walk is what it is called. Sort of a local zoo/petting zoo. Can you imagine Skinner on a bus with a bunch of 2nd graders. Too funny.
