This time of year it always feels like we need to hurry and do things altogther as a family because Brandi will be leaving soon and it always feels like we are never going to see her again when in reality we will see her every two weeks but still it isn't enough.
Last night we all went fishing on elbow. It was slow but everybody caught a few fish so at least something was happening. We shut off the motor and just used the oars. Unfortunately they had a sqeek that about drove a sane person over the edge, but it was still fun and we had the lake to ourselves.
Brandi is getting organized for school and has her summer homework finished. We just have a little shopping to do for her.
Kaj has most of his stuff and he is getting excited for the first day of school. He is going to have Mrs. Brandt this year. Either Kindergarten teacher would be great and the classes are only supposed to be 11 in each which is awesome.
Grandma Jackie was here for a few days and we had a great time with her. She came over for supper one night with Grandpa Jim and Gramma Becca for summer and the next day Gramma Becca took Grandma Jackie, Grandma Gert, Brandi and myself out for lunch at Chez Jude. The food took forever to come but it was tasty. Can't wait for Grandma Jackie to come back again!

Quotable Quotes
Kaj has been gone for what feels like forever but really it was just two full days and one night. He went to celebrate his friend Pierce's B-day. They went to Duluth with Pierce's Grandparents and two of his sisters and went to the Aquarium and took a ride on the Vista. The big hit at the aquarium was the fish were fed cat food and the scuba diver feeding the fish did a pinky stand. The Vista ride was fun too. They got to see a large Salty go under the bridge and two tug boats moving it around. But the really big hit was something about picking a shark and if you got a blue one you got a blue water bottle and if it was a red one then you got a red water bottle. The kids discovered, before they got in the car for the 2 hour ride home that the straws from the water bottles make a whistling noise. Needless to say the straws were safely packed away in the way back. The next day they played on the beach at Nanbajou, which Kaj seems to think is called the Bananabajou. The owners are going to love that one.
It was strange to just have Brandi. But we took Brandi out to the Trout and had a very nice time. The night before Brandi and I made stuffed sea shell noodles. It was a really good dinner. Then she did typical teen age things of playing on the computer. But mostly she seemed a little lost without the direction of Kaj.
A few nights before this was our anniversry. We had talked about it a little in front of the kids, but later that night Kaj says "Pretty soon Dad is leaving" I said "Here is he going" He said "After people have been married awhile they go live with other people" I informed him that was not really the plan or the goal. My how times have changed.
The kids are going to have an overnight with the Aunts in a week or so which they are very excited about. We will have a night to ourselves in Duluth and then go and pick them up. I have a feeling without the kids it is going to be very fast shopping.
