More progress

It was a great weekend of ripping and tearing even though the excavator was supposed to be here for the weekend and do it for us.  Auntie Karen came up and visited and put us to work.  It was very fun and so great to see her.  Kaj used the sledge hammer, on the cement slab that the greenhouse used to be on, for about 4 hours straight.  Today he says his arms are a bit flappy but he really had wanted to smash it all up before Daddy brought a jack hammer.

Kaj in the cistern below the house.  Very excited about the trap doors that he never knew about.

Skinner sweating his heart out!  The sweat really was in the perfect shape of a heart.

"You ruined my life!"

Yes Kaj informed me that I ruined his summer and his life a couple of weeks ago.  What did I do that was so awful that he would have a miserable existence for the 100 years?  I signed him up for swimming lessons.  Yup.  As it turned out in the first day he tested out of the group he was put in and then for the next two weeks had a great time.  Turns out that 9 was his year for being able to float.  Until now he only sunk, so that was a big help.  Before that I signed him up for summer school and he was impressed and it turned out that he loves that.  All in all he is doing very well.

Brandi is at DQ again this summer.  If I had to guess it will be her last.  I am thinking that she will want to try something new next summer.  Things that I hope she has learned about herself are that she does not like to work evenings and I think she would like to work 5 days in a row instead of all over the place.  And she claims to be not a fan of people, but she sure is good at it.

Brandi also ran the Tofte Trek again this year with Rebecca.  She did awesome!  And they even made the paper.  I believe she improved on her time by about 20 minutes from last year and she ended the race smiling and tired but not exhausted.  Although she rode with her last boyfriend Nate back to Duluth and hopefully she didn't fall asleep and drool all over herself on the ride back.

House update.  It is still standing.  If it is still standing after next weekend I am going to cry.  Supposedly Skinner is bringing home the big excavator from Grand Portage next weekend and I know that we are going to have a 30 yard roll off here (I made that arrangement) so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will have a big hole in the yard.  Actually it won't really be that big of a whole but I am hoping that nothing will be sitting on top of that whole.
