Home Alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So a few weeks ago Kaj and the neighbor girl were walking home.  She watches him after school until one of us gets home.  Kaj saw his Dad's truck and tells the neighbor girl that his Dad is home so she can go home.  So she does.  Kaj goes the rest of the way home and walks all over looking for his Dad.  Skinner pulls in the yard about 10 or 15 min. later and Kaj is standing by the fuel tank.  He figures that the neighbor girl is just in the house.  He does his thing gets out asks Kaj how is day was and where was neighbor girl.  Kaj responds nonchalantly "I told neighbor girl she could go home because I thought you were home because I saw your truck, I was looking all over for you".  Just then the neighbor girl and her mother pulled in.  Her Mother thought it was strange she was home so early and the neighbor girl told her that Kaj had said his Dad was home so she could go home.  Her Mother asked if she had actually seen Kaj's Dad.  She hadn't so they headed over to see what was up.  All is well.  Kaj was not traumatized at all.  I think the neighbor girl was a bit more traumatized by the whole ordeal.  Since then she is a lot more talkative with us and always makes sure that she talks to us before she leaves.

Weekend at the Aunts

I have been trying to post Bette's pictures for two weeks but the system is not cooperating with me. So I will work on that part later.
Thanksgiving was wonderful!  Karli made it up as well as Auntie Bette and Auntie Doris.  Gert came along as well and we stuff ourselves silly at Grandpa Jim's.  Then Auntie Bette and Auntie Doris took off with the kids for a two night stay at Auntie Doris's.  When they left GM it was over 40 degrees and the sun was shining.  By Silver Bay it was raining and the last hour of the drive Doris drove 40 mph because it had turned to snow.  Ish!  But they made it just fine.  The kids immediately ate some pie leftovers and worked on puzzles and watched cartoons.  I am not sure of all the stories of the party at the Aunt's but I do know the kids shoveled off the driveway and sidewalk (and got paid for it, really not necessary but they sure do appreciate it).  There was an incident with the dogs at 4 in the morning wanting some breakfast or a treat and jumping on the kids bed(apparently the aunts heard just a faint bark and went back to sleep).  Bowling was pretty fun.  Kaj just bowled a couple of times and Brandi bowled against some other kids.  Oh and Kaj told Auntie Bette no old people were allowed on the bed!  Brandi scoulded him and they decided a more appropriate term might be "No O.P.s on the bed"  I don't know that it is any better but the kids got a kick out of it.  If there are any other stories I should add to this I most certainly will as I find them out.  Maybe I should have Brandi post her thoughts about the time.  The kids had a great time and want to do it again so I would say that is a success!  The Aunts want to do it again to, although this time I didn't hear about wanting to make it any longer! : )

First Report Card!

We got Kaj's first report card last week.  He did very well.  All Ss and S+s.  And for his very first report card meal he chose spaghetti.  He is counting to over 100 and can count backwards from 20.  He is working on sight words my and the.  He is really good at sounds I would say.  Also he is getting better about coloring in the lines.  He does not like to write his name on his work sheets and he does not like to pick out his sight words when we are reading at home.  But he does like being read to or reading books on his own.

Brandi also did well on her report card.  All As and then there was one C.  She is not so much fan of reading and why she missed an assignment still seems to be a mystery to her parents.  Hopefully that will come around.  Other than that her teachers love her and she is doing really well.  Always a good way to start out middle school.

Everyone is happy and doing well.  We are looking forward to Thanksgiving which is somewhere next Thursday!
