Concert

Kaj had another band concert last night.  I have to say they are pretty amazing for playing for a year and a half.  They played Ghostbusters, Imperium-their favorites, clarinet cooking and sax attack and feed the birds from Mary Poppins.  Kaj finally will play more than one note before taking a breath.  He did a great job sitting up paying attention, bopping to the music to keep the beat.  The band was better than the senior high band(unfortunately they had a rough few years and there are only 16 of them left)  and I would say they are about as good as the 7th and 8th graders.  I didn't get any pictures because I wasn't in the best spot for it and I just wanted to enjoy the music.  Aunt got some pictures and maybe Grandpa.

Brandi goes to the cities tomorrow to do the physical again for the Air National Guard.  She missed by 3 pounds or 1/2inch.  Hopefully it goes good this time.  She doesn't have to do everything she just gets weighed.  Imagine 5 hours of driving just to step on a scale.  Oh the government....

Update

It has been awhile since I sent a picture.  Kaj is currently 5 feet 2.5 inches tall.  He is taller than Brandi now!  She does not like that.  Kaj went to his first Middle School Dance.  He last an hour.  Probably because he was at the skate park for 3 hours before the dance and before that had a full day of school and he has a cold.  Thus why when I took this picture after the dance he would not smile or open his eyes. 

He really looks the same as when he was little just in big size now instead of fun size.  He is just about out growing the size 14 pants at least length wise.  He is still skinny as a rail and really like to eat sugar stuff all day.  They call him Lumberjack at school because he wears plaid shirts and I think he likes that because he will only wear plaid now.  He really enjoyed doing maple syrup with Grandpa this weekend and is planning on them going into the syrup business together.  He actually got about 2.5 gallons from 2 trees in our yard in his first 12 hours of taping.  Grandpa only got a quart of the multiple trees that he was taping in the same time frame. 

Brandi is attempting to join the Air National Guard.  She went for her physical last week and failed by 3 pounds or a half inch.  The weight she can fix and will go back again in 2 and half weeks to get weighed.  She is doing good.  I think she might have some senioritis but not bad since she is really doing mostly college classes at this point.  Her puppy Cora is just as crazy as ever. 

Since last time

Well since last I posted Dad had a heart attack on January 15th ish and then triple bypass on January 17th.  He is doing well now but very thin.  Working hard on getting his strength back.  Karli is winding up her winter job with the DNR for doing snow removal and applied for the summer campground job.  She is also working in the kitchen at the Tavern helping to cook. 
Brandi has senioritis and is trying to figure out what is going to happen next year.  Not sure where she is going to live or what she is going to do.  Work/school who knows.  Kaj is finishing up 6th grade.  His grades are alright but he just doesn't want to put the effort into actually doing the work.  So he likes to skip the essay questions.  He is now the same height as Brandi.  She is not happy about it.  Willis and Reah are enjoying the mud this spring.  The fox has eaten all but one chicken this spring.  At least as of this morning.  It is a rooster and he is so lonely he follows us around outside.  Ducky is enjoying the warmer weather and being outside all the time.  Horses and cows...same old.  Simon the bull might have gotten spring fever and mounted one of the heifers which help to prolong his life.  Although I don't think skinner would ever be able to bring him to slaughter!  He is all gruff and prickly on the outside but mush on the inside.  hee hee
