It's happening

Well my dear sweet son has informed me that Homecoming is 3 weeks away and he is going to ask a girl to go with him to the dance.  But he won't tell me who.  She is blonde, plays volleyball but didn't play in the game last night.  Unfortunately I didn't go to the game last night so I still have no idea who he wants to ask.  It is all I can do to not pest him constantly to tell me but I guess I will wait until she says yes(hopefully).

In other news I was nominated as a Outstanding Woman in Finance and will have a article in some magazine written, new headshots and dinner and a night in the cities in November.

Grandpa Jim had a consultation on his hip and will have it replaced in January 2022 hopefully.

Apparently my hair is the color of barnwood but I still love the picture!

It finally happened

According to the antique scale and measuring tool in the garage Kaj is now a quarter inch taller than me and probably 2-3 inches taller than his Dad.

This past weekend Kaj helped out with the Blacksmithing demos at the Bally museum and we baled hay.  At least is wasn't the 100 degree weather from a week or 2 ago but it was plenty warm.

this is kaj typing now   i have been doing a lot of  fishing on the devil track river recently.

This is Marja clearly Kaj needs typing lessons.  So that is what happened below for the last 20 minutes.

Milestone

 Last weekend Kaj was confirmed.

He did a great job on his Faith Statement I think.  He wouldn't let me read it.  He said it was between him and Pastor Mark.  But he certainly was thinking about it a lot and had some good thoughts.  It is a milestone that felt like a huge one.  It is sort of the first one that he has accomplished by having to work on it.  Not just having a birthday and graduating from Preschool which is fun and cute but different than this start into adult hood and deeper thinking.

Here is a picture of the girls.  Biggest to smallest.  Mama Cow (pka Bangs), Ginger (pka baby cow), Sally.  They are a lot of fun.

Kaj has a grouse that he has befriended that he calls Little Brother.  At the dirty mountain(what the kids call a spot behind the mill where they 4 wheel) the grouse was following Kaj when he was riding around.  Slowly Kaj has gotten closer and also fed him some chicken feed.  Brandi and her boyfriend Alex are coming up to go 4 wheeling and Kaj can't wait to show them.

Last night Kaj went to Search and Rescue training about doing an evacuation up the trail with Grandpa.  Anything to get out of doing dishes!

Measurements

Also supposedly Kaj is 5'10" now.  He loves to wrestle with his Mom because he is strong enough now that he can almost beat me.  Not quite yet I still have more physics on my side but he is getting close.

Happy Spring

The month of April has been very exciting.  It started with Brandi getting on full time at the base in Duluth.  She can now retire when she is 39!

Grandpa Jim had his 73rd Birthday, it was very very low key this year.

We had a calf at WE Farm.  The boys didn't think that Momma Cow was pregnant but I did.  She had a girl named Silly Sally and she is very silly.  She really likes to run and jump.

Kaj switched back to his regular in person school yesterday.  He is loving it.  Not a bad start with his first class being culinary arts and the teacher made them breakfast of scrambled eggs, broccolini, chives and ham.  He was so very happy and is starting off wanting to be organized.  He was ready to go at 7 this morning so that he could get things all set up on the chrome book that they are having students use.

Grandpa is car shopping.  The frame of his Colorado is rusting away and it is kind of becoming a safety hazard.  So we will have to wait and see if he comes back with a vehicle today or not.

In other farm news we are getting ready for summer.  Skinner is giving the tractors the once over.  The boiler shed is getting resided and seeds are being started for the garden.  I went a little crazy and have a lot of seeds started!
