First Fish and First Dance

Picture from the picnic on Elbow Lake with Grandpa and Grandma Becca.
Still need to work on the paddling skills.

Brandi steered the canoe all the way back to our trucks from the picnic spot. She did a very good job. It was her first time doing that.

Our picnic somewhere on Elbow Lake.

Random story in the middle of all the Elbow Lake pictures but here it goes anyway. Last night we went to Grand Portage for the 50s and 60s weekend. It was great. There was a classic car show up there to so Skinner was lost to us for the evening but the kids did a lot of dancing, throwing rocks in the lake and playing on the swing set. One of our friends was up there and she had asked Kaj to dance. He was still getting used to the whole scene so he wasn't into it. But he got some Famous Dave's in him for supper and he was ready to dance. I was still eating so I told him to go and ask Carline who had asked him before. He was half way down the tent by himself, about 50 feet and stood next to her. She wasn't looking down for awhile. He called out Mom which got her attention and she knelt down and he asked her if she would go dance with him. Pretty cute.Kaj's first catch was a perch. His eyes got pretty big but he was not going to reel it in. He then caught a northern and another perch. All on a Sponge Bob rod(Thank you Auntie)! It was on Elbow Lake.

We went to dinner at Grandma Gerts a couple weeks ago and Brandi had to dress up herself and Kaj in their best outfits. They were adorable.

I walked into the bathroom and Kaj had pink toenails and toilet paper between each of his toes so the nail polish wouldn't get messed up. It is great having an older sister. Every day is like a spa day!

Here Kaj is making double chocolate cupcakes.

He can Ryhmn!

I am not sure I can spell but Kaj can Ryhmn all on his own and now that he is doing it. Rather than it just sounding funny. He was talking to himself and he says "Mommy listen, Madison Addison that ryhnms". It is funny I tried to spell check and even the computer doesn't know what I am trying to spell.

Another

busy weekend. No not another child. I just can't happen.

Moving on. Brandi and Kaj had a sleepover at one of Brandi's friend Sophie's house. Her Mom has wanted to have Brandi and Kaj over for a sleepover for awhile. It went great. They went garage saling on Saturday and Kaj got a skidsteer and a skidder. Brandi got a new shirt. They threw rocks at the beach and feed ducks. They were on the do. Skinner and I had a nice night in Lutsen at a Wedding reception. And a very quiet morning with no kids.

The kids came back about 1:00. Kaj passed out on the way up the hill. When they got in the care he said "Julie I just so tired" and that was it. He slept for a couple of hours. No rest for Brandi though. Her friend Gavin was at his cabin for the weekend and had been driving past our house every 15 minutes to check and see if Brandi was there yet. So he was right there when she got home and they were continuely on the go the rest of the weekend until Gavin had to go home Sunday afternoon.

Sunday afternoon then the Berglund's came over and we played badmitton til it was almost dark and then the kids roast marshmallows and got all sticky. Again not a lot of rest for our little ones so Sunday night neither one of them bucked going to bed to much. Monday they were both still a little tired but we had to hit the ground running. Yesterday Kaj was playing with a play phone and he called both Auntie Doris and Auntie Bette. He told me Auntie Doris had to go and work out in the garden. He also told me yesterday that a squirrel climbed up Daddy and bit Daddy on the cheek. I would like to see the squirrel that would try that!

Kraut

It is hard to tell but Kaj is eating a brat piled with saurkraut.
Eventually he abandoned the brat and just ate hand fulls of kraut. The next day he couldn't make it out of the bath to the toilet to poop. And it wasn't exactly a firm poop either. The joys of motherhood!
