Counting down the days

I don't really know how many days but I am trying to get the house mostly down by the end of May/first week in July.  This last weekend I started on siding and removed most of the joists from the deck.  Skinner worked on getting the plumbing to the shop so that we will have a bathroom and trying to figure out how to run all the wires, water...for the camper.  Yup we bought a 5th wheel to live in for the summer.  It should actually be pretty nice and we won't have to set up a kitchen in the shop.

Pretty sure I wouldn't survive

Skinner has been gone for three days.  Thank goodness the house demolition is getting to him.  Good for him to have a break and he is with a great group of guys looking at how John Deere makes all their fancy new equipment.  Granted it would be better if it was Farmall but at least he is gone and having fun.  It will be nice to have him back, don't get me wrong.

I do think however that Kaj thinks that I would not survive if it wasn't for him keeping me on task with making sure there is wood in the stove and the animals get fed.  What is nice is that he does help.  He doesn't listen to what I have to say about things but he helps.  Yesterday he went to load the boiler and when he switched on the fan after loading it up the fan didn't click on. "Just great now Daddy's going to have fix that when he gets home because it is a piece of junk and ....." He went on and on.  I told him it didn't come on because the house and shop were already warm enough and weren't calling for heat so the boiler didn't have to make any heat.  No that was definitely not it according to Kaj.  Some day I hope I will know what I am talking about.

At one point he wasn't happy with how the fire was burning so he decided to empty the ash.  Not bad thinking and I thrilled he knows how to do it.  Little does he know he just found himself another regular chore that he can be responsible for!

French Toast

Kaj is making French Toast morning, noon and night!  He figured out how this weekend and has been going crazy with it ever since.  He is doing pretty good with it.  The trick he says is the cinnamon!
